‘If we had any doubts in our first article about the deployment of the next generation air defense system the S-400 in Syria, we certainly don’t now’
Deployment of the next generation missile defense systems will be a significant upgrade from the S-300 system. The air defense system will be deployed to Hmeymim airbase, Russian Defence Ministry has said. This with the Pantsir-S1 will provide cover to Russian air and naval forces.
Russia has warned that any targets which pose imminent threat to it’s forces will be destroyed. The missile cruiser Moskva off the cost of Lattakia has been given clear orders to deal with any threats to the Russian forces both in the air and Sea.
This has come in direct response to the downing of a Russian military jet in Syria by Turkish F-16’s yesterday. Russia has also cut all military co-operation with Turkey.
*Update* The next generation air defense systems have been deployed to the Hmeymim base today. 26/11/2015
